AFC Bournemouth knock Arsenal off the top spot in the Premier League

AFC Bournemouth have knocked Arsenal off the top of the Premier League table, well at least for a day or so, and all because F comes before R in the alphabet.

The Gunners have started the season at the top of the league table since 1915/16 because they come first in the alphabet. But all that is about to change after AFC Bournemouth all but sealed promotion from the Championship to the Premiership on Monday night.

Technically a Middlesbrough win over Brighton on Saturday, and a 20-goal swing can stop the Cherries, though this is unlikely!

Therefore, assuming no goal frenzy, Bournemouth will start the 2015/16 season at the top of the table.

Eddie Howe’s men will no doubt take delight in their alphabetical superiority over the Gunners which is bound to give them a positive start to their new Premier League life.
