Day one of the 2016 Bournemouth Air Festival, now in its ninth year, and once again the teams have been working hard to bring you a fantastic, and free, line up.
So what’s in store on day one?
The festival site opens at 10.00am and there is 1.5 miles of trading stands along the seafront between the Bournemouth and Boscombe piers. Here you will also find the Army Village, the Royal Navy Village and the Royal Marines Commando. At Pier Approach you will find the RAF Village which features a mock up of a full size Chinook plus the Red Arrows support team!
The action in the air starts from 1.00pm. Please note aircraft are subject to availability and weather conditions. Flying times may be subject to change. The entertainment then continues later in the day with the RAF Queens Colour Squadron performing a drill on the East Overcliff at 6.00pm followed by the RM Unarmed Combat Display Team.
From 7.00pm there will be entertainment in the Lower Gardens including children’s entertainment and a performance by the Band of the Army Corps.
The Night Air Dusk Displays start from 8.20pm with displays from Otto Helicopter & Fireflies Aerobatic Display Team, Aerosparx Aerobatic Display Team and The Red Devils Parachute Regiment Display Team.
Finally there will be some great live music to finish off your evening. On Bournemouth Stage ‘The Wet Bandits’ will be performing a range of tribute hits, everything from The Beatles to The Arctic Monkeys! The Boscombe Stage features A Musical Spectacular performed by the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Collingwood. This is a ticketed event – click here to buy online.
