and Specialist Markets
Markets have been around for hundreds of
years and even now in the 21st century they
are still as popular.
From bric-a-brac to fruit and veg, clothes
to accessories, homewear to flowers, markets
are a great place to hunt out a bargain, and
practice your haggling skills!
And with quality as good as you would find
on the high street, it's time to get
Bournemouth has a farmer's market in Winton,
on the third Saturday of each month from 9am
to 3pm. This market is held on Cardigan Road
and the market dates for 2013 are as
Boscombe market is situated in the heart of
the shopping area on Christchurch Road. It
is an open air market operating every
Thursday and Saturday, weather permitting,
from 8.30am to 4.30pm/5.00pm.
Boscombe also has a vintage market, every
first Saturday of the month between 10am and
4pm which takes place inside the Royal
Christchurch has a market every Monday in
the High Street and Saxon Square. Taking
place between 9.00am and 4.00pm, there are
around 50 stalls selling a variety of
Poole market takes place in the High Street
every Thursday and Saturday, again weather
permitting. And there is also a traditional
Farmers market in Falkland Square on a
Thursday from 8.30am to 2.00pm.
Poole also often hosts a continental Street
market every year with stalls selling
goodies from France, Germany and Spain to
name a few!
Over in Swanage there is an open air market every Tuesday between
April and October from 8am to 3pm. The
market is held at the main beach car park
off Victoria Avenue. Stalls include
clothing, food, flowers, footware and diy.
Refreshments are normally availabe and there
is a large car park.
Wareham hosts a farmer's market every 2nd
and 4th Thursday of the month from 9.00am to
1.00pm and the town hall. There is also a
market every Saturday on the quay.
Wimbourne has the largest open and covered
markets in the South of England and has been
going since 1855! There is a Farmers market
every Friday from 6.30am to 2pm and a car
boot and flea market every Saturday from
7.30am to 2pm. Sunday's see a big covered and
open market with over 500 stalls and is open
from 8am to 3pm.
And finally the popular Christmas Market
takes place each year in Bournemouth
which includes a
German Alpine Bar with beer garden serving German
beers & mulled wine. There will
also be a German
charcoal BBQ Bratwurst House
offering three types of German sausage, a
roasted chestnuts costermonger, a flavoured
coffee stall and a crepe stall. Beautiful Alpine style chalets
be festively decorated with
twinkling lights and selling
a range of seasonal gifts and yuletide foods.
There will also be a Victorian
Carousel & a stage with various
local acts and carol singing. The
market will be open daily from 10am except
for Christmas Day.
