The new Destination Management Board – Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole (DMB) are delighted to announce that, after a year’s absence, the much-celebrated Tourism Awards will not only be back next Spring but are to be delivered by newly contracted DBox Events and re-branded as the Destination Awards to reflect the wider cultural and creative sectors that make Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole a great place to visit, work and live.
Appointed from 1st April 2019 – James Dixon-Box, of DBox Events will be organising and delivering the awards on behalf of the DMB. Said James: ‘It’s fantastic to have such a wonderful opportunity to work alongside the new management board. This prestigious event is really exciting, and I look forward to bringing what DBox does best, creating events as unique as our clients!”
David Bailey, DMB Chairman said; “On behalf of the board we are all delighted to have James and his expertise onboard. This will be, once again, an opportunity to showcase the fantastic variety of talent and innovation within the industry. We want to use this as an opportunity to inspire and it will certainly be a celebration of excellence!”
The Destination Awards will be open to any business, group or individual based locally, regionally or nationally that can demonstrate how they support the local economy and contribute towards the development of the destination within the Tourism, Culture & Creative sector.
Jon Weaver, Head of Resort Marketing & Events who started the Awards in Bournemouth back in 2004 added: “James brings a real flare for creativity and professionalism to the Awards, it’s a big challenging project and we need the best to deliver it on our behalf.”
The Awards will be launched in June 2019 and celebrated at an Awards ceremony in early Spring 2020. The application process can be aligned to the Dorset Tourism Awards with winners of several categories automatically being put forward for consideration for the Dorset Tourism Awards without the need to submit a completely new application.
