Former ‘I’m a Celebrity’ King of the Jungle, English football manager and former player, Harry Redknapp is set to hit the switch on the Christmas lights in Poole this year.

Taking place on Saturday, November 30 in Falkland Square, Harry will kick-start the town’s festivities at 5.45pm. The switch-on is in support of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, for whom Harry is a Patron, and has been organised by the Poole Business Improvement District (BID).

Following last year’s successful Christmas event, this year Poole BID has once again organised a host of free, family-friendly activities to celebrate the season throughout November and December. This includes the annual Santa Parade, Santa on the Quay, Christmas choirs and a Christmas movie day.

Ailsa Wilson, BID Manager, commented: “We are delighted Harry will be joining us in support of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care to turn on the Christmas lights and celebrate the start of the festive season. We hope that as many residents as possible will come and see the High Street and Poole Quay come to life with dazzling lights and Christmas trees.

“With a host of seasonal family-friendly events planned throughout the next few weeks for visitors and residents to enjoy, this festive season has something for everyone.”

Late-night shopping evenings will also be returning to the town centre on Thursdays from November 28, 8am until 8pm. In addition, from Saturday, November 30 morebus will run a free park and ride service between Creekmoor Park and Ride site and the Dolphin Shopping Centre every 15 minutes from 8am until 6pm.

Poole BID works in partnership with other organisations including the local businesses, BCP Council, Dorset Police and Poole Tourism with the aim of making Poole an attractive place to live, work and visit.
