The Dolphin Centre confirms dog-friendly shopping in time for Christmas
The Dolphin Centre in Poole has announced that well-behaved dogs are welcome throughout the centre with 56 of its retailers now allowing dogs in their stores.
Participating stores include popular retailers H&M, Beales, Starbucks, Pandora, New Look, Pen Gallery, Grounded Coffee and many more in the centre, Falkland Square and Kingland Crescent. Customers can identify which shops allow canine companions with a paw print sticker displayed in store windows.
To ensure happy and safe shopping for all customers, dogs are required to remain on leads, and must not be left unattended in the centre. Customers are also required to clean up any accidental mess caused by their pooch and asked to respect the policy of retailers that are not participating in the dog-friendly scheme. As always, customers with guide dogs are welcome in every store.
John Grinnell, centre manager of the Dolphin Centre, said: “The Dolphin is a central hub for our community, and our new canine-friendly policy extends this offering to now include the county’s dog lovers. Customers can take a walk along the quay with their pooch and then stroll into the centre for a coffee, have a browse, and enjoy the facilities and events on offer, without the worry of leaving their dog outside.”
According to the Pet Food Manufacturers’ Association, a total of 3.2 million households in the UK acquired a pet since the start of the pandemic as of last year. With 38% admitting it’s just like having a new baby*.
John added: “Our pets are a huge part of our lives, and as research shows, this is more apparent now than ever before. With more businesses welcoming pets into the workplace, we think it’s important that the public can enjoy their local centre with their dogs by their side. My lovely dog Bruce comes to work with me every day, he really does boost morale within the team, and he especially loves the fuss.”
