University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity’s transportation buggies are powering up extra support for patients, thanks to new sponsorship from Dorset-based taxi company PRC Streamline.
Since 2022, the Charity has funded two electric patient buggies at University Hospitals Dorset’s Royal Bournemouth Hospital site. The buggies travel from one end of the hospital to key locations across the site, helping patients attending vital appointments and visitors coming to spend valuable time navigating what can be a challenging distance to walk.
A dedicated team of University Hospitals Dorset volunteers drive the buggies and help community members find their way across the hospital as a free service for patients, visitors and anyone who needs the support. This is a service that is beyond NHS funds and therefore charity- funded, requiring support year on year by local businesses.
Thanks to the support of PRC Streamline, these buggies can continue to safely transport patients and visitors around the hospital site.

PRC Streamline has partnered with University Hospitals Dorset for many years to provide transportation of equipment between hospitals in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. The Dorset-based company has helped NHS colleagues travel across sites as well as help anyone travel to and from the hospital at a discounted fixed fare.
