About
Stuart Waters, a fearless performer known for his raw and honest approach to art, is thrilled to bring his groundbreaking dance-theatre piece, ‘A Queer Collision’ to Bournemouth for the final date of its Autumn tour on Friday 1st December 2023, marking World Aids Day.
‘A Queer Collision’ is a warm, welcoming night out that leads audiences through a collision of funny, poignant historic queer stories. This show is a rollercoaster of joy, mischief and life changing moments, with embedded audio description to make Stuart and Willie’s experiences accessible for blind or partially sighted people and resonant for all.
Following a successful career as a touring performer, Stuart has transitioned into a live art performance maker, creating spaces that are both brave and safe for audiences and artists alike.
Combining dance, spoken word, and comedy, A Queer Collision is a 60-minute exploration of private and historical queer stories. The show welcomes audiences with a 30-minute pre-show experience in the wider building, featuring video and art installations and captivating cabaret performances from Ebony Rose Dark and Rajan Das, all carefully curated to set the stage for a transformative experience.
Stuart Waters’ commitment to inclusivity and accessibility is evident throughout the production. Touch tours are offered an hour before the pre-show for those who desire a tactile experience of the space. Additionally, BSL interpretation is available.
The show carries a content/trigger warning, given its exploration of challenging topics such as transphobic and homophobic language and adult themes. Making it suitable for audiences aged 16 and above.
‘A Queer Collision’ is an inclusive performance that showcases the power of art to transcend boundaries and share authentic stories. By embedding audio description and prioritising accessibility, Stuart Waters is committed to ensuring that his work resonates with all audiences, regardless of their lived experiences.
The tour premiered in Brighton this Summer with a fantastic audience response:
“Thank you for your wonderful performance in that magical show. It was genuinely life-affirming.”
“Thank you for the best theatre experience I’ve had in years”
“You held us in the palm of your hand”
“I’m in awe along with rest of the audience. Totally enthralled”
