The Bournemouth Arts By The Sea Festival returns with a brand new artistic concept to explore, Mind Matter.
Now in it’s ninth year, the 2019 Arts by the Sea aims to explore and challenge current attitudes towards mental health and spark conversations through artwork and installations inspired or influenced by mental health issues and experiences. The focus is delivering a packed and fun filled festival celebration, while shining a light on mental health and breaking down some social barriers surrounding it. The festival will consist of an explosion of art with many fantastic events taking place throughout the town which everyone can be involved in.
The event features a rich mix of some of the best regional, national and international arts across dance, film, theatre, performance, visual arts, spoken word, literature and music. It takes place at a number of various locations across the the town, some of which are free events whilst others are ticketed.

Hôtel d’Illusions by Illuminos
Hôtel d’Illusions will transport audiences back to the Victorian era through popular themes of the time – magic, science and hypnosis. Marvels of the age such as Pepper’s Ghost, interspersed with contemporary wonders, will come to life using realtime mapping technology projected on the façade of Bournemouth’s Town Hall.
Belgium collective Pyronix Production have mastered the element of fire. In a breath-taking medieval show full of battling, juggling and fire manipulation, eight performers will push the boundaries of darkness and light as they wow audiencesin an unforgettable, unique performance produced especially for Arts by the Sea.
