Eco Christmas Willow Hamper Workshop at Careys Secret Garden

Make that present extra special and create a stunning mini Xmas hamper using willow and fragrant English rush. Start with a wooden base then use willow to give strength to the mini- hamper then weave the rush up the sides and watch how the many shades of green, yellow and brown blend to give a stunning finished effect. You will learn 2 basic weaving techniques, and then finish your mini-hamper using a simple track border. Size 28cm x 18cm x 15cm

Event leader, Yanina Stockings has been inspired by nature, after growing up in the Highlands of Scotland surrounded by the ancient Caledonian pine forests.  With a BSc Hons in conservation, sustainability is important and all of her willow and rush is sourced here in the south of England, and where possible Yanina harvests her own locally. She trained as a teacher at Southampton University in 2009 and now runs many varied willow workshops making this ancient rural craft accessible to everyone.

A hot drink will be provided but please bring your own lunch or purchase a delicious light lunch, cake or ice cream from the Secret Salt Pig.
