Dolphin Shopping Centre hosts extraordinary fashion event to commemorate 50th anniversary.
The Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole is putting the finishing touches to plans for its extraordinary fashion event, ‘Fashion in Time,’ which will look back at how fashion has evolved throughout its 50 year history.
Taking place on Saturday June 1 and Sunday June 2, from 11am-3pm on both days, the event will honour fashion trends since the opening of the shopping centre.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary in July, the Dolphin opened its doors on July 1 1969 and was known for the first two decades as The Arndale Centre, before the newly refurbished centre opened in 1989 with a new name, the Dolphin Shopping Centre.
As part of the two-day ‘Fashion in Time’ event, shoppers can enjoy:
• The Beauty Room – a nail and beauty bar positioned outside Marks & Spencer. Shoppers will be able to ‘ask the expert’ and enjoy make-up demonstrations. Nail appointments will also be available.
• The Style Lounge – also positioned outside Marks & Spencer, various stylists will be hosting workshops for men and women. Clothes featured in each workshop will be chosen by the stylist from onsite retailers and shoppers will be able to ask questions and receive free style advice.
• The Social Booth – positioned within The Beauty Room, giving shoppers the chance to have fun photos taken after their make-over.
In addition, there will be a large fashion mood board created using a mixture of illustration and textures, including fabrics, patterns and swatches. A timeline will also be in full view, showing iconic fashion styles and how trends have evolved.
John Grinnell, centre manager at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, commented: “This year celebrates our 50th anniversary, which is a huge milestone for the town’s shopping centre. We’re very excited about our fashion event and hope to see as many of you there as possible.
“We have plenty more unique events planned at the centre to celebrate our milestone, so keep an eye on our social media pages for further announcements.”
