Explore the Fluorescent forest with a guided UV night walk with Amateur mycologist and fungi photographer, Max Mudie. Experience nature in a whole new light and learn about the lesser-known world of UV fluorescent Flora, Fauna and Funga. We’ll take a deep dive into UV fluorescence, why, how and the practical implications.
What to bring:
Please dress warmly as the gardens can be pretty chilly at night, we suggest you bring a torch for the car park and pathways and a UV torch if possible, it is best to go for UV365nm if purchasing new.
About Max Mudie
A lifelong love for mushrooms and moving back to a rural area sparked an obsession foraging, documenting and cultivating fungi. For the past five years, Max’s lens has been focused on fungi and myxomycetes. His imagery posted on Instagram @allthingsfungi has gained him recognition with international platforms and magazines, last year he was shortlisted for Close-up Photographer of the Year. Encapsulating the ethos of all things fungi Max likes to find, eat and cultivate mushrooms and has recorded hundreds of species. He’s contributed to the Darwins Tree of Life project at Kew Gardens with wild clones and is an active member of the Sussex Fungus group.
Careys Secret Garden is approx. 5 minutes drive from Wareham Train Station, detailed directions will be sent to you with your booking confirmation…after all, it is a secret!
