Santa’s Grotto brings extra Christmas magic to charity’s brand-new event!
Forest Holme Hospice staff are already getting into the Christmas spirit as the charity announces the launch of a brand-new festive family event this December.
Families are being invited to step into Christmas and join Forest Holme’s Merry Mile, a fun-filled festive event complete with Santa’s Grotto for younger participants.
The Merry Mile takes place on Sunday 6th December 2026, starting at 11am, starting from the Branksome Dene Room and following a one-mile route to Branksome Chine Beach and back.
Participants can dash, dance, skip or stroll their way along the seafront, with Christmas fancy dress very much encouraged. Local radio station Hot Radio will also be joining the festivities, playing Christmas tunes and helping to create a lively festive atmosphere throughout the event.
For younger participants, there will be an extra special surprise waiting for them on their return, with children aged 15 and under able to visit Santa’s Grotto, as the Branksome Dene Room is transformed into a magical festive setting for them to meet Santa as part of their Merry Mile experience.
The grotto is being created with support from Haskins Garden Centre, helping Forest Holme bring some extra Christmas magic to its first-ever Merry Mile.
Forest Holme Hospice Charity said: “We wanted to create an event that families can enjoy together and that really captures the fun of Christmas.
“The Merry Mile is for everyone. You can run, walk, dress up, bring the family, even the dog, and simply enjoy the occasion. We’re especially excited about Santa’s Grotto and creating a magical experience for children at the finish.
“We hope families will join us for some festive fun while helping to raise funds for Forest Holme Hospice.”
Merry Mile entry includes a festive hat, hot drink and mince pie, with Santa’s Grotto and family ticket options also available.
There is no minimum fundraising target, although participants are encouraged to raise additional sponsorship if they would like to further support the hospice.
The Merry Mile takes place from 11am to 2pm on Sunday 6th December at Branksome Dene Room, Pinewood Road, Poole, BH13 6FB.
