About
Before you overindulge on Turkey, Christmas pud and sweets, why not take a morning dip in the sea and help raise money for Macmillan Caring Locally!
The 2018 dip was their 11th year and they had just short of 1,000 dippers having the time of their lives, being watched and encouraged by thousands of spectators and representatives from national newspapers and television.
This year the organisers have decided to put the funds raised towards ‘Brick by Brick’, Macmillan Caring Locally’s capital appeal to build a new hospice to replace the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch. The Macmillan Unit is seeing three times as many referrals as it was ten years ago, so the current building is not big enough and cannot be economically adapted.
You charge into the sea at Boscombe Pier at 10:30am on Christmas day, anyone can join in the fun all they ask is for a charitable donation, of which can be paid through their easy to use website where you can register for this years dip!
This year for the first time they are introducing a PWYC (pay what you can) registration. They recommend a donation of £10 per person, but want everyone to be able to join in regardless of means, so if you can’t afford £10 please pay what you can. If you can afford to donate more than £10, that would be amazing!
When you register you will then be given the opportunity to create a Just-Giving page, which is a quick and easy way to collect sponsorships. If everyone can try and raise £50.00 they will reach their target of £50,000 and make a substantial contribution towards the appeal.
The event takes place at Boscombe Pier in Bournemouth and is open to all ages. You will need to sign in between 9.45am and 10.00am on Christmas morning with the dip taking place at 10.30am.
To take part in the event please register via the White Christmas Dip website.
