Please see Wimborne Minster Folk Festival Facebook page for more information.
Giving a fresh, graceful feel to contemporary folk, we are delighted to have Claire Coupland perform for us as part of her UK tour. Hailing from Canada, there is a pureness to Claire’s voice that can silence a room. A moving songwriter and compelling guitarist, Claire combines smooth folk finger picking, jazz influenced progressions and soaring melodies. She effortlessly pulls her audience into her personal world of life experiences.
The Carrivick Sisters draw inspiration from their passion for traditional American old time and bluegrass music, English folklore and the wide variety of instruments they play: guitars, mandolin, fiddle, banjo and dobro. Performing professionally together since 2006, the Carrivicks have toured internationally, picking up fans and stories along the road and now have 7 albums under their belts.
The remarkable rise of BBC Radio 2 award winning trio The Trials of Cato on the UK folk-scene has been the subject of massive critical attention. Dubbed “the Sex Pistols of folk,” (J Davis) they pay clear homage to the tradition whilst twisting old bones into something febrile and modern, with stomping tunes and captivating stories. The band comprises Tomos Williams (Guitar and Vocal), Robin Jones (Bouzouki and Vocal) and Polly Bolton (Mandolin Player and Vocalist known for her work with the Magpies and Stillhouse).
